Bariatric Procedures Performed
Gastric Sleeve The procedure for the Gastric Sleeve is a surgery performed under general anesthesia made to reduce the volume of the entire stomach. It is an invasive surgery. What is left of the stomach is approximately 1/3 part of what it originally was. In other words, we will be creating a “tubular stomach”. When undergoing this procedure, the patient will have to stay for 2 nights at the clinic, and then for about 2 weeks in Santo Domingo before returning home. Additionally, we will give you a booklet which describes what to do, what not to do, and when to do it. It also includes suggestions for the patient’s menu and some recipes. Despite being a minimally invasive bariatric procedure, “it is not a magic wand”. It also depends on the patient. “The doctor can not eat for the patient and the doctor can not do the exercises for the patient”. This means that besides undergoing the surgical procedure, the patient must also change certain “daily bad habits” in order for the procedure to work at its maximal capacity. |
